One of the top prospects in the Tar Heel state for the class of 2015 will be 6-foot-6 wing Brandon Ingram (Kinston/Kinston, NC). This past season, Ingram was instrumental in leading his team to the State Championship over Shelton Mitchell and Cuthbertson.
Brandon Ingram is rated as a four-star prospect by 247Sports.
The rising junior talked about the aspects of his game that are his strengths as well as what he will be working on this summer.
“I think I do a good job scoring the ball,” Ingram said. “Defensively I get my hands in the passing lane to get some turnovers. During AAU I want to work on getting stronger, my pull up jumper and my footwork.”
During the season, Ingram found the time to make visits to Wake Forest, North Carolina and North Carolina State.
The Tar Heels have done a good job of landing Kinston’s top players snagging Jerry Stackhouse in the 90’s and current player Reggie Bullock. Ingram talked about the Tar Heel program and what it meant to see Bullock currently in Chapel Hill.
“I love their style of play,” he said. “They run in transition, they have great defense and they recruit a lot of long players. Since Reggie has been there that has helped me seeing a guy from Kinston make it there.”
At this point in the recruiting process, Ingram’s only offer has come from the Wolfpack.
“North Carolina State has really been treating me well and I really like Coach Gottfried,” he said. “Their defense really stands out, they have a neat campus and a great practice facility.”
Ingram added that the Demon Deacons have been showing him a good deal of attention of late and they could be close to offering.
This coming AAU season, Ingram will play with the Atlanta based Stackhouse Elite 16 and under program. Currently, he is rated as a four-star prospect with an overall grade of 90 by 247Sports.
