Movement in the 247Composite

Recent rankings changes throughout the recruiting industry have led to an updated 247Composite, which rates and ranks prospects using a proprietary formula that weighs equally ratings and rankings from across the industry.

Reuben Foster

Auburn commit Reuben Foster is the No. 7 overall prospect in the 2013 247Composite.

Five-star linebacker Reuben Foster (Auburn, Ala.) dropped from No. 2 overall in the 247Composite to No. 7, mirroring an adjustment 247Sports made to his ranking several months ago.

Defensive lineman Robert Nkemdiche (Loganville, Ga./Grayson), Offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil (Lake City, Fla./Columbia), linebacker Jaylon Smith (Fort Wayne, Ind./Bishop Luers), cornerback Vernon Hargreaves III (Tampa, Fla./Wharton and defensive tackle Montravius Adams (Vienna, Ga./Dooly County) are the top five in order. Quarterback Max Browne (Sammamish, Wash./Skyline), Foster, safety Su’a Cravens (Murrieta, Calif./Vista Murrieta), linebacker Matthew Thomas (Miami, Fla./Booker T. Washington) and defensive tackle Kenny Bigelow (Elkton, Md./Eastern Christian) follow to round out the top 10.

Nkemdiche, who de-committed from Clemson today, Tunsil, Adams and Thomas are the uncommitted prospects in the top 10.

There are 29 five-star prospects in the most recent 247Composite update. Following the top 10, cornerback Kendall Fuller (Olney, Md./Good Counsel). athlete Ricky Seals-Jones (Sealy, Texas), tight end O.J. Howard (Prattville, Ala./Autauga Academy), defensive tackle Eddie Vanderdoes (Auburn, Calif./Placer), safety Tony Conner (Batesville, Miss./South Panola), defensive tackle Dee Liner (Muscle Shoals, Ala.), quarterback Shane Morris (Warren, Mich./De La Salle Collegiate), running back Kelvin Taylor (Belle Glade, Fla./Glades Day), cornerback MacKensie Alexander (Immokalee, Fla.), wide receiver Laquon Treadwell (Crete, Ill./Crete-Monee), defensive lineman Joey Bosa (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas), quarterback Christian Hackenberg (Fork Union, Va./Fork Union Military), defensive end Carl Lawson (Alpharetta, Ga./Milton), cornerback Jalen Ramsey (Brentwood, Tenn./Brentwood Academy), wide receiver Derrick Griffin (Rosenberg, Texas/B F Terry), wide receiver Robert Foster (Monaca, Pa./Central Valley), athlete Derrick Henry (Yulee, Fla.), safety Leon McQuay III (Seffner, Fla./Armwood) and lineman A’Shawn Robinson (Fort Worth, Texas/Arlington Heights).

Seals-Jones, Connner, Alexander, Treadwell, Foster and McQuay are the remaining uncommitted five stars.

Four of the top five prospects nationally in the 247Composite are from the states of Georgia and Florida. The Sunshine State has a whopping eight five-star prospects, followed by Alabama, Georgia and Texas with three each, California and Maryland with two a piece and Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, Washington all have one.

Recruiting industry rankings changes have spurred change in the 247Composite, including a new No. 2 overall prospect.

Have you guys updated all recruit and team rankings?

    • 247 Composite = Moves Like Jagger IMO. Two unstoppable forces that simply will not go away. Honestly, I'm not sure which I dislike more.

the 247Composite prospect and team recruiting rankings should all be up-to-date, including Greg Gilmore now with LSU's class at No. 9

I once thought that, but it's a close race at this point. My only beef with the composite rankins is they show up as the default. Personally, I don't give a flying fork how the other three recruiting services rank players. 247 has the best evaluation, analysis, coverage, etc. IMHO, it's not even close. If it were available via a drop down menu that had to be accessed manually, I would definitely check it from time to time. However, I pay 247 for a reason. So while I really don't care for Composite, my intentions toward 247Sports are true.

    • Alpharetta QB Joshua Dobbs threw for 349 yards last night in a 35-32 win. I think he's gone over 300 yards in 6 out of 10 Regular Season Game.

Meanwhile, Bama's QB commit from the state of Georgia had his team up 21-7 at halftime against 2-7 Roswell with Tyren Jones on the sideline recovering from an MCL Sprain. He then proceeded [in the 2nd half] to throw a pick 6 (INT returned for TD) and then the next series he fumbled inside the Walton 25 yard line. Roswell recovered and scored on the drive. Walton ended up losing 28-24 to Roswell that as aforementioned was 2-7 going in.

Also saw Brice Ramsey play on the Internet last night as Camden County was upset. Ramsey played OK but I'm scratching my head trying to figure why he's rated higher than Dobbs.

This Bama QB recruiting "strategy" is questionable this year at best. Bateman, Ramsey, and McLeod getting "mad luv"......but Jeremy Johnson and Joshua Dobbs aren't Bama worthy. I'd love for several non-biased NFL QB Coaches/Scouts to rate all 5 guys and put them in rating order.

No excuses.....simply stating objective facts.....and SMDH. Looking forward to where the "final" composite rankings have these guys.
