Winchester is no longer considering Cal.
It's been a rough run for Cal as of late. Things aren't getting any easier on the recruiting trail as Spring (Texas) Klein Collins defensive back Jeremy Winchester decided to step away from his commitment.
"I decommitted a couple of weeks ago from Cal," Winchester said. "I just didn't have the kind of relationship I wanted with the coaches and I just decided I need to look around. I would like to stay closer to home this time if I can. I know my parents would like that."
The 6-foot, 175-pound prep said he is favoring Kansas and Fresno State at this time. He doesn't have a visit set to either program yet.
"I think I'll be visiting Kansas in December or January," he said. "I'd also like to visit Fresno State at some point. My goal is to get my decision made in early January as soon as possible."
This season he has played corner, safety running back, receiver and special teams for Klein Collins. He is projected to be a safety or nickel back at the college level.
