Wadood said he will consider other schools despite the commitment.
Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco junior defensive back Jaleel Wadood made a very early, and surprising decision today. The 5-foot-11, 170-pound four-star safety decided to verbally commit to Arizona State.
Boise State, UCLA, Arizona, Florida and a host of others are showing heavy attention along with his Colorado and Oregon State offers.
Wadood said he spent some time talking with his father last night before making the decision.
"Me and my dad talked for a long time last night and he supported my decision," Wadood said. "He said if it feels good then I should go ahead. I've liked them for a while and I just feel good about the program."
The nation's No. 242 overall recruit said he will take other visits and considers himself "open" to other schools.
"I know other schools are still going to offer and recruit me," he said. "I'm sure I'll take some other trips but I'm happy to be a Sun Devil."
