Arik Armstead will play defensive end at USC

Arik Armstead at Pleasant Grove

DE/OT Arik Armstead from Elk Grove, Calif., has been committed to USC since June 19 and will be one of the top prospects from the 2012 recruiting class.

His video Highlights Link to Web Page from the first five games of the 2010 season have awed most who have seen them.

Armstead is projected to be an offensive tackle by some recruiting services, including 247Sports.com, but he will begin his USC career at defensive end. He's is dominating on both sides of the ball and most teams make sure they run away from him. So, there are more offensive highlights than defensive highlights.

Last night, FightOn247 was in Elk Grove and attended the Pleasant Grove vs Oak Ridge game. After seeing Armstead play in person, there's no question he can be a dominating defensive end or offensive tackle at the next level. He can easily take on more weight, he's extremely athletic and he's only 16 years old.

Pleasant Grove expected to have a close game with Oak Ridge and it appeared that would be the case early on after a couple of early Eagle turnovers, but they ended up blowing out Oak Ridge 49-3.

We spoke to Armstead after the the game last night. Click on the link below to view our interview with him.
