Arizona 2014 prospect emerging

Two-way standout Cameron Denson (Tucson, Ariz./Salapointe Catholic) already holds two verbal scholarship offers and figures to be one of the more highly-recruited prospects in the Grand Canyon State for the 2014 class.

Cameron Denson shined on both sides of the ball in Las Vegas this past weekend.

Last weekend at the New Level Athletics Elite 7-on-7 in Las Vegas, he shined on both sides of the ball, showing a springy ability to jump up and catch passes on offense and quick, reactive movement in coverage on defense.

“As a player, I like to go out and play 100 percent and give it all that I got,” Denson said.

Arizona and Arizona State already have offered Denson, who was an all-state selection as a sophomore. He also will head to Notre Dame this summer for a 7-on-7 camp with his teammates.

Denson’s favorite college program growing up was an out-of-state one, but at least one family member has an in-state preference.

“I was actually a Miami (Fla.) fan growing up, but my dad is a huge Arizona State fan,” he said.

Denson started both ways for Salapointe Catholic in 2012 and says he doesn’t have a preference as to which side of the ball he plays on in college.

“Whichever side I can do my best on,” he said. “It doesn’t matter.”

Denson, who says his grade point average currently is around 3.0, caught 33 passes for 951 yards and 16 touchdowns and had 22 tackles and six interceptions on defense last season.
