ATLANTA, Ga. - Ole Miss already has a commitment from one player in the metro-Atlanta region [linebacker Demarquis Gates] and the Rebels lead for defensive tackle Chris Williams (Tyrone, Ga./Sandy Creek), he said Saturday.
Defensive tackle Chris Williams will visit Ole Miss and Ohio State next week.
"I love the coaches there, and the players," Williams told 247Sports at the Atlanta MVP Camp. "They were the first to offer me."
The 6-feet-1, 287-pound Williams, the No. 41 defensive tackle in the 247Composite, will visit Ole Miss this coming Wednesday.
According to Williams, Tennessee is second on his list of top schools with South Carolina next. He visited the Gamecocks last weekend.
After he makes what will be his second visit to Ole Miss, Williams will spend the latter part of next week at Ohio State with receiver Demarre Kitt, his teammate and one of the Buckeyes' top offensive targets for 2014.
"I like them a lot," Williams said.
For Williams, a decision might not come until midway through his senior season.
QUEEN TALKS ACC OFFER
Quarterback Tyler Queen (Kennesaw, Ga./North Cobb) is one of the top class of 2015 prospects in the Southeast Region, and is beginning to see his recruitment pick up steam with the spring evaluation period right around the corner. The 6-feet-2, 233-pounder had an offer from Middle Tennessee State until Tuesday when the North Carolina Tar Heels entered the race.
Quarterback Tyler Queen will visit Clemson on Thursday.
"North Carolina offered me Tuesday," Queen said. "I talked to Coach (Walt) Bell. He was the coach that told me they were offering. I was really excited about that because it's my first major D-I offer, and I'm really excited to get to know more about their program and team. I want to go visit and see their campus and talk to their coaches more,"
The two-year starter with more than 4,000 yards already in his high school career made the short trip southeast yesterday to check out Georgia.
"I visited Georgia yesterday and I'm voting Clemson next Thursday. I really like Georgia. Coach (Mike) Bobo is a great coach and Coach (Mark) Richt really runs a great program. They want me to come back to DawgNight again this year, and want to continue to watch and see me develop," he said.
This summer, Queen plans to take in several camps; which will include a trip to the west coast.
"I think I'm going to USC -- Southern Cal -- Georgia, Alabama and Clemson. I'm excited to see USC." He said.
Queen reports a max bench press of 305-pounds, power clean of 280 and squat of 360.
PRESCOD HAS SEVEN
One of several talented offensive linemen on hand Saturday was 2014 offensive guard Terrone Prescod (Decatur, Ga./Columbia). The 6-feet-5, 326-pounder currently has seven verbal offers with more expected in May.
"The University of Louisiana-Lafayette, Marshall, Virginia, Ole Miss, East Carolina and FIU have offered me," Prescod said. "I went to Vanderbilt last Saturday, and they may offer me,"
The three-star prospect walked away from Vanderbilt impressed with plans to return this summer.
"It was a great visit. They worked into my top 10 for sure. Coach (James) Franklin said an offer could be coming. They want me to go to their camp this summer so they can watch me. Coach Franklin is a cool, down to earth coach that wants you to get better,"
Prescod reports a max bench press of 330-pounds.
*2014 four-star cornerback Wesley Green (Lithonia, Ga./Martin Luther King Jr.) continues to call Clemson his leader and it appears Florida, Georgia and South Carolina are the other primary contenders. At this point, though, the Tigers' lead appears to be pretty good. He visited the school Friday, and once again had a strong trip to Death Valley. Green said he had a good chance to bond with new Clemson secondary coach Mike Reed.
*2014 cornerback Darious Latimore (Lawrenceville, Ga./Central Gwinnett) visited Vanderbilt last weekend, and has an offer from the Commodores. The 5-foot-11, 162-pounder was also verbally offered by Tennessee in January, but has not had any recent contact with the Vols staff.
*2014 quarterback Cole Garvin (Tyrone, Ga./Sandy Creek) picked up offers from UAB (Thursday) and Western Kentucky (Tuesday) last week to go with previous offers from Marshall and South Alabama. The 6-feet 1/2-inch, 195-pounder will be at Western Kentucky next Saturday, Marshall April 20 and UAB the 26th. Middle Tennessee State and Arkansas State are close to offering, he said. He plans to camp at South Carolina, Tennessee and Western Kentucky.
*2014 wide receiver Collin Lisa (Alpharetta, Ga./Chattahoochee) reports growing interest from Wisconsin and Boston College with Boston College likely to offer in May. The 5-feet-9, 180-pounder has verbal offers from Cincinnati, UAB, Toledo and others.
*2016 offensive tackle Chris Barnes (Leesburg,/ Lee County) already is getting some attention from Clemson and Georgia. The 6-feet-4, 275-pounder, who started for his team at left tackle as a freshman, wil list the Tigers in two weeks for their spring game.
*2015 offensive guard Dallas Warmack (Atlanta, Ga./Mays) definitely appears to be someone worth tracking in the coming years. The younger brother of former Alabama star Chance Warmack, he's 6-feet-2, 290 pounds and had a strong day. Warmack said he hasn't yet received any offers but has gotten a little interest from Georgia, Georgia Tech and Virginia. According to Warmack, his older brother has taught him a lot about technique.
*Michael Lockhart, a 2014 three-star all-purpose back (Lithonia, Ga./Arabia Mountain), said he is hearing from programs such as Georgia, Georgia State and Tennessee. He doesn't yet have any offers, but thinks Georgia State could be close.
