Henricks staying in state

Bastrop, Texas is home to four-star cornerback and Texas commit Antwuan Davis but the Bears have another top corner playing opposite Davis in Aneas Henricks.

Aneas Henricks teams with Antwuan Davis (pictured) to form a formidable secondary duo for Bastrop.

The 6-foot, 170-pound Henricks transferred to Bastrop from nearby Del Valle prior to the season and now helps make up one of the more talented secondaries in the state. With offers in hand from a handful of programs, he recently made a commitment.

“I committed to Texas Tech today,” Henricks said on Thursday evening.

Henricks was able to talk to both his recruiter as well as head coach Tommy Tuberville at Texas Tech to let them know the good news.

“I thought it over this morning,” he said. “I talked to my parents and prayed on it and I came to a decision that I was going to go to Texas Tech. I talked to my coach, coach (Gerald) Perry, and we called coach (Tommy) Mainord, my recruiter at Tech.

“We talked about it and I told him I was going to commit and he was happy. We tried to call coach Tuberville but he was in a meeting at the time so I talked to him later.”

Henricks actually took an official visit to an ACC program this past weekend before deciding to stay in state.

“This past weekend I went up to Wake Forest on my official,” he said. “Everything went well up there. Tech and Wake Forest, those were my top school in no particular order going in.

“I really liked it up there but just knew I was supposed to be at Tech when I came back. It was hard decision but, after talking it over with my parents, I knew Tech was where I was supposed to be.”
