Charlotte (N.C.) Christian School receiver Bo Hines picked up what could be the first of many BCS offers on Wednesday afternoon from N.C. State.
Bo HInes proved he's a big-time athlete at Monday's Best of the Midwest Combine in Indianapolis.
The Wolfpack join Ball State, Charlotte and UMass in extending a scholarship to the explosive 6-foot-1, 180-pound Hines, who was one of the top performers at Monday’s Best of the Midwest Combine in Indianapolis, where he clocked a 4.41 40-yard dash, a 4.02 shuttle, 6.9 L-cone and 10’4” broad jump.
Hines got a chance to talk with head coach Dave Doeren, and assistants Matt Canada and Eddie Faulkner about the offer.
“I’d definitely say they’re my top offer right now and I look forward to getting to know the coaching staff better,” Hines said. “I think they’re a group of hardcore guys and I definitely think they’re going to win up there. They just want to build a great class with players from North Carolina and hopefully win National Championships there.”
Hines visited N.C. State last weekend.
“They definitely have great facilities,” Hines said. “The campus is really nice. I really enjoyed being taken around and seeing the cool stuff they have. I think they can compete with any program in the country facilities wise.”
Next up for Hines is a visit to UMass this coming weekend. He is also aiming to visit Nebraska next week. Other programs showing personal interest includes Duke and Wake Forest.
As a junior, Hines caught 45 passes for 794 yards and seven touchdowns. He added another two scores rushing and one by return.
Last season on the track, Hines finished second in the state in the 100-meter dash.
