Fishers (Ind.) Hamilton Southeastern two-way lineman Jimmy McCarthy picked up his first offer on Thursday from Central Michigan.
The 6-foot-5, 260-pound McCarthy received the good news from Chippewas head coach Dan Enos.
“It’s just good to know all the hard work has finally paid off,” McCarthy said. “It’s sort of a relief.”
Also receiving personal interest from Indiana, Purdue, Ball State, Miami (Ohio) and Toledo, McCarthy plans to visit Central Michigan in the near future. He said that he is being recruited on both sides of the ball but that Enos likes him “on defense primarily.”
“I know they had the number one draft pick and they have a bunch of good players coming through,” McCarthy said. “They have good academics and I’m pretty excited.”
As a junior, McCarthy had 80 tackles from his defensive tackle position and five sacks.
