Crete (Ill.) Monee defensive end Chris Slayton has committed to Syracuse, his mother Lauren confirmed with 247Sports.
The 6-foot-5, 230-pound Slayton chose the Orange over his other finalists Kansas and Illinois.
Ranked by 247Sports as the nation's No. 22 weak-side defensive end, Slayton is the 14th commit for Syracuse in the class-of-2014 and the third from the Chicago area, joining offensive lineman Aaron Roberts, cornerback Lamar Dawson, and linebacker Colton Moskal.
Slayton took his official visit to Syracuse the first weekend of December. Other schools to offer included Miami, Michigan State, Ole Miss, Nebraska and Wisconsin.
