Core 6 Showcase: Cincinnati Preview

Core 6 Athletes has emerged as one of the top training grounds for high school football players in the Chicago area.

Chicago (Ill.) De La Salle OT Jamarco Jones is one of the top prospects in the country.

On Sunday, CEO/President Paul Szczesny and his staff take their act on the road to the Cincinnati area.

Core 6 Athletes hosted it’s third-straight successful winter showcase in January in Westmont, Ill., and will now host a similar event at the Rivers Edge Indoor Sports Facility in Cleves, Ohio.

“Just wanted to spread the Core 6 brand,” Szczesny said. “A Midwest compete movement.”

Szczesny will be bring many of the top prospects that train at his facility including Top50 prospects Clifton Garrett and Jamarco Jones, along with Ian Bunting, Dylan Thompson, Lonnie Johnson, Jauan Wesley and Dre Brown all holding BCS offers.

“It feels good for our athletes getting out there and being able to travel as a team, and it’s exciting for us to take what we’re doing to a different state,” Szczesny said. “It’s a good start to what we’re doing and hopefully it will grow into something bigger in Ohio.”

Several area kids have signed up, and Hype Athletics in the Detroit area and Preps To Prospects in Indiana are also coming to town for the event.

Core 6 Headliners
Jamarco Jones – The Top50 standout from Chicago (Ill.) De La Salle is high on offers from Florida, Michigan, Michigan State, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Vanderbilt and Wisconsin.
Clifton Garrett – Top50 prospect out of Joliet (Ill.) Plainfield South favoring Ohio State over offers from Arizona State, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan State, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma and Wisconsin among others.
Lonnie Johnson – The Gary (Ind.) West Side receiver/defensive back favors Ohio State over offers from Illinois and Nebraska.
Ian Bunting – The junior tight end from Hinsdale (Ill.) Central favors Vanderbilt over scholarships from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Northwestern, Ole Miss and Purdue.
Dylan Thompson – Ohio State is the latest to offer the Lombard (Ill.) Montini Catholic standout, joining Indiana and Illinois.
Nile Sykes – Illinois, Indiana and Purdue are among the programs to offer the defensive end/outside linebacker out of Lombard (Ill.) Montini Catholic.
Jauan Wesley – The Harvey (Ill.) Thornton Twp. receiver has an offer from Illinois.
Colton Moskal – Minnesota recently became the first school to offer the Lake Zurich (Ill.) High linebacker.
Vontae Diggs – The Downers Grove (Ill.) North outside linebacker picked up his first offer from Toledo and could be the next Chicago area prospect to blow up.
Matt Morrissey – The NFL legacy out of Lincolnshire (Ill.) Stevenson has offers from Illinois and Toledo.
Jake Kolbe – Junior signal-caller out of Naperville (Ill.) Central with a scholarship from Toledo and interest from a lot of the Big Ten.
Dre Brown – Sophomore running back out of De Kalb (Ill.) High with early offers from Illinois and Northern Illinois.
Denzel Tolliver – The Hillside (Ill.) Proviso West receiver has an offer from Northern Illinois.

Malik McDowell

Detroit (Mich.) Loyola defensive lineman Malik McDowell is one of three Top50 prospects expected at the Core 6 Cincinnati Showcase.

Hype Athletics Headliners
Malik McDowell – The Top50 defensive lineman out of Detroit (Mich.) Loyola is high on offers from Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame and Ohio State. Other schools to offer includes Florida, Mississippi State, Oregon, Penn State, Stanford and USC.
Lawrence Marshall – The Top247 defensive end committed to Ohio State this past weekend over offers from the likes of Michigan, Michigan State and Tennessee.
Dylan Roney: Central Michigan and Toledo have offered the defensive lineman out of Novi (Mich.) Catholic Central.

Dominique Booth: The Indianapolis (Ind.) Pike Top247 receiver has a top five of Missouri, Tennessee, Michigan State, Indiana and Mississippi State, with programs like Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Iowa, California, Purdue and Wisconsin also having offered.
