Duke beat out Michigan State and others for Jabari Parker.
One of the more scrutinized prospects in recent history, Jabari Parker put an end to his recruitment during a press conference at his Chicago Simeon High School.
Officially down to Brigham Young, Duke, Florida, Michigan State and Stanford while unofficially down to Duke and Michigan State, Parker announced his decision to attend Duke.
“I just chose Duke because it was the perfect fit for me," said Parker. "Look at Coach (Mike) Krzyzewski and his resume. He was just interested, he’s really put a key hand in my development, even throughout high school. Telling me basic things that I have to do.”
A versatile 6-8 forward, Parker will fill the shoes of senior Ryan Kelly next year at Duke.
The Blue Devils will move up to No. 3 in the 247Sports team recruiting rankings with the addition of Parker.
Now that has missed on its top recruiting target, Michigan State coach Tom Izzo will likely turn his attention to high rising forward Gavin Schilling, who is playing for national powerhouse Findlay Prep this year. A sleeper recruit coming into the year since he didn't play on the travel circuit, Schilling will be evaluated by 247Sports at next months Hoophall Classic.
Parker, the No. 5 ranked prospect by 247Sports and the No. 2 ranked prospect in the 247Composite, joins five-star forward Semi Ojeleye and four-star guard Matt Jones in the 2013 Duke recruiting class.
