Saint Paul (Minn.) Cretin Derham Hall class-of-2014 quarterback Ricardo Johnson says his first scholarship offer came from Hawaii on Tuesday evening.
“Coach Norm Chow looked at my film and said I have the accuracy and he liked my three and five-step drops and my ability to read defenses, and the fact that I’m only a sophomore and my abilities can only progress,” Johnson said.
The 6-foot, 170-pound Johnson received the good news from Warriors assistant coach Chris Demarest, and says he plans to visit this summer.
“The fact that it’s a great academic university,” Johnson started in. “I like the fact that Coach Norm Chow has developed legendary quarterbacks like Steve Young. When I saw he developed Steve Young that hit home with me. My goal first and foremost is to get a good education, and if I can do so and develop as a quarterback and maybe develop past the level of college, that would be a perfect situation for me.”
Johnson plans to hit several camps this summer including California, Florida State, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame and Tennessee.
