Dastrup is both skilled and physical.
Skilled big men aren't easy to find. That is why 2014 prospect Payton Dastrup created such a buzz in Las Vegas.
A double/double machine, Dastrup put up big number in Las Vegas including a 11 point, 16 rebound effort against elite 2014 post man Jahlil Okafor.
At 6-9, 230-pounds, Dastrup is also a terrific passer with a high level feel for the game.
"Payton's game continues to develop and his recruiting continues to increase," said Arizona Select travel team coach Dwain Schallenberger. "He is LDS and will serve a mission but as good as he is schools have been okay with it."
The latest to be okay with Dastrup, who attends Mesa (Az.) Mountain View High School, is Florida. Other offers are in from Arizona, Arizona State, BYU, Oregon State, USC, Utah and Virginia.
A this point it is early in the recruiting process for Dastrup as more schools are entering his recruitment, but Arizona and Arizona State are in a good position because of proximity as is BYU because of the Mormon connection.
