Gators move into Hand's top five

The nation’s top prospect for the Class of 2014, defensive end Da’Shawn Hand, announced a new top five via his Twitter account on Tuesday night.

The movement, according to those familiar with his recruitment, is likely based on some assistant coaching moves.

Florida has replaced North Carolina on his list. Former South Carolina defensive line coach Brad Lawing, who left last month for a job at Florida, has an excellent relationship with Hand and thus the Gators have moved into the mix.

The Gamecocks hired Tar Heels defensive line coach Deke Adams to replace Lawing. Hand had built an excellent relationship with Adams while being recruited for UNC.  Hand previously has stated that Hokies defensive coordinator Bud Foster is his favorite recruiter, but that overall, he has the best relationship with the Michigan staff.

No trophy for second place, anybody outside of VT fans getting their hopes up here are pissing into the wind

Well, Michigan is pretty much better than VT in everything outside of proximity so I was asking if JC thought Michigan had a fighting chance for him.

Brown's the prototype DE for Saban's 3-4. Been saying that since I first saw him two years ago. Personally, I think he fits y'all better than Hand. Hand might be a tweener in the 3-4: Too big to play OLB and too small to play DE after all is said and done.

I agree, he said he was blown away by the offer but that means nothing right now. I never thought Hand was coming to BAMA, and Brown might end up at virginia...

Yep. Not to rehash, but that's what's so frustrating about being a VT fan.
Only VT can physically punish an opponent, dominate the statistics, leave no doubt who the better team is......and find a way to lose.

UNC is squarely in the mix too. I just think he fits Bama so well that he'll end up there in the end. Long way to go and--as always-- time will tell.
