ASU lands commit No. 18

Paradise Valley (Ariz.) Chaparral defensive end Jarvis Lewis has made his college decision. The 6-foot-5, 245 pound prospect reported to 247Sports last week he was favoring Arizona and Arizona State among his offers.

The Sun Devils were able to beat out in-state rival Arizona for Lewis' commitment.

"It feels legit to be a Sun Devil," Lewis said. "I was just doing some research and I realized Arizona State had so much to offer. I was talking to coach (Scott) Brown and how they would use me. They rush the quarterback a lot and that fits what I do."

The coaches were not shy about their excitement when Lewis gave them the news this evening.

"I heard coach (Dennis) Erickson yelling through the phone," he said. "It felt good, I'm real happy with my decision and my family supports me. I'm kind of a home body so it's good to be so close to home."

Lewis said he does not expect he will take any other visits this Fall and considers himself a solid verbal to ASU.

He has a 247Rating of 89, making him a three-star recruit.

Lewis is commit No. 18 for the Sun Devils.
