Gilmore is a huge commitment for the Oregon State staff at a position of need.
The Oregon State Beavers have added a huge third commitment with the verbal pledge from Lakewood (Calif.) wide receiver Malik Gilmore.
The 6-foot-3, 200 pound prospect had more than eight scholarship offers but chose to commit to Oregon State tonight.
"Yes sir I committed to Oregon State," Gilmore said. "I talked to my parents about it and it just felt like the right fit for me. I like the academics, the football and my position coach. Coach (Brent) Brennan offered me when he was at San Jose State and again at Oregon State. He sent me a video of him coaching this spring and I loved it."
Gilmore has not visited the campus yet but will on June 27 with teammate Darius Powe, who also holds an Oregon State offer.
"The plan was for me and Darius to commit together but I jumped the gun," he said. "I know he is really high on Oregon State and he's going on the visit with me so we'll see what happens."
Gilmore also said he wants to take his five official visits which he was open with the Oregon State staff about. He wants to visit Notre Dame, Michigan and Utah along with Oregon State.
247Sports has awarded Gilmore a rating of 89 making him a three-star recruit.
