Canes land OL Knighton

Hunter Knighton

Hunter Knighton is commitment No. 11 for Miami.

Miami (Fla.) picked up a verbal commitment from offensive lineman Hunter Knighton on Monday. The 6-foot-6, 265-pounder made an official visit to Coral Gables this past weekend.

“There was so much that went into it but really I just felt Miami was the college for me,” Knighton told Nate Adleson of InsideTheU.com “I had that gut feeling like I’ve talked about before that it’s the place I should be. I fit in well with the guys, academically, and (Canes head coach) Al Golden is great. That’s how I knew it was right.”

Knighton, who projects to play offensive tackle in college, picked Miami ahead of Boston College, Purdue and Boise State, the three other programs he visited officially.

Miami's 2013 class ranks No. 58 nationally according to 247Sports, but only has 11 current commitments and there are plenty of top targets remaining.

Knighton is rated an 86 by 247Sports, which equates to three stars. He is the No. 25 overall prospect in the state of New Jersey in the 2013 class.
