Illinois Bringing In Top Targets

Illinois has a nice crop of prospects scheduled to visit the Champaign campus this weekend.

The nation's No. 2 ranked center Brian Allen will visit Illinois on Saturday.

247Sports takes a look.

Offered

Out of Frankfort (Ill.) Lincoln-Way East, Nick Allegretti is one of the top centers on the Illinois board and he’ll be back on campus after having visited a couple times in the past. Ranked as the nation’s No. 8 center by 247Sports, the 6-foot-4, 280-pound Allegretti also has an early offer from Cincinnati and several MAC schools.

Another big-time center the Illini are aiming to land is the nation’s No.2 player at the position in Hinsdale (Ill.) Central’s Brian Allen. The 6-foot-2, 273-pound Allen is the younger brother of Michigan State center Jack Allen and has the Spartans as his early leader. However, he continues to evaluate all of his other options including the Illini. Maryland, Ole Miss and Kentucky are the latest to extend Allen a scholarship, joining the schools already mentioned as well as Indiana, Iowa, Purdue and Wisconsin.

Lees Summit (Mo.) Senior’s rising linebacker Jimmie Swain comes to town considering offers from the Illini, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri and Nebraska.

East Saint Louis (Ill.) High linebacker Kyron Watson has emerged as one of the state’s top linebackers and besides the Illini, holds offers from Kansas, Missouri, Purdue and Syracuse.

Illinois would like to land a quarterback in 2014 and Maria Stein (OH) Marion Local four-star Adam Bertke is one of the top targets.

The Illini are one of the schools to give an early offer to Huber Heights (Ohio) Wayne linebacker Dorian Hendrix along with Kentucky, Indiana and several MAC programs.

LB Kyron Watson visits Illinois for the first time since landing his offer.

A pair of exciting in-state slot receivers coming back to campus are Mike Dudeck, who visited last weekend and came away with his first offer two days later, and Jauan Wesley.

Intriguing Visitors

Sturgis (Mich.) High Top247 quarterback Chance Stewart decommitted from Wisconsin on Wednesday and takes his first visit after reopening the process.

Upper Arlington (Ohio) High linebacker Chris Frey has seven offers including Syracuse and was recently name MVP of a strong linebacker group at the Best of the Midwest Combine in Indianapolis.

East Chicago (Ind.) Central athlete Martayveus Carter is one of the Hoosier State’s more exciting two-way players.

Downers Grove (Ill.) North outside linebacker Vontae Diggs could begin landing BCS offers at any time. Already holds a scholarship from Toledo.

Indianapolis (Ind.) Lawrence Central two-way lineman Kevin Willis will come to Champaign with an offer from Indiana.
