Naperville (Ill.) Neuqua Valley receiver Mike Dudek gave his commitment to Illinois on Wednesday evening.
The 5-foot-11, 175-pound Dudek and his 4.4 speed in the 40-yard dash make him one of the most explosive players in the state, which he backed up in the fall on Fridays to the tune of 46 receptions for 991 yards and 14 touchdowns. He also returned three kickoffs for scores and has a 38-inch vertical.
“I’ve been growing up watching them my whole life,” Dudek said. “When I’m there, it just feels like I’m already part of the team.”
Now Dudek is part of the team.
Ranked by 247Sports as the No. 28 prospect in the state of Illinois, Dudek becomes the third commit for Illinois in the class-of-2014, joining center Nick Allegretti and defensive tackle Tito Odenigbo. North Dakota had also offered and Dudek was hearing from just about every other program in the Big Ten conference.
Dudek has visited Champaign several times in the past and will return for the upcoming spring game.
“It feels right,” Dudek said. “All the facilities and stuff stand out to me. I feel like I fit in well. I already get along with the coaches great. I feel like the next four years will be great for me.
“I have a good relationship with Coach (Mike) Bellamy, who I’d be spending most of my time with and I feel it’s the place I should be.”
