Kansas gets its big man

Kansas already had a top five recruiting class, but it needed a legitimate big man to go with its four talented perimeter players. Tuesday morning Bill Self landed his center.

Embiid is an enormous pick up for Kansas

Four-star big man Joel Embiid from Gainesville (Fla.) The Rock School is headed to Kansas to be the next talented post player to develop his game in the program.

The 7-footer chose Kansas over Florida and Texas. He had also considered and also visited Marquette and Virginia.

Originally from Cameroon, Embiid is new to the game having only started playing basketball in the past two years.

He impressed 247Sports with his play during the summer, playing on a talented Florida Elite team alongside Florida commitments Chris Walker and Kasey Hill.

Currently Embiid is ranked No. 78 by 247Sports and has a 247Composite ranking of No. 128. Word is that he is still rapidly improving, so his ranking might go up as well.

The addition of Embiid, pushes Kansas back to No. 2 in the 247Sports team rankings.

He joins talented perimeter players Brannen Greene (No. 17 247Sports/ No. 24 247Composite), Wayne Selden (No. 25 247Sports/ No. 21 247Composite), Conner Frankamp (No. 40 247Sports/ No. 36 247Composite) and Frank Mason (No. 103 247Sports/ No. 154 247Composite) in the Kansas 2013 recruiting class.
