Portland (Ore.) Jesuit has some talent this year led by jumbo athlete Joey Alfieri. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound prep went to Washington today to take part in the Huskies junior day.
Washington offered Alfieri as a linebacker.
He returned home with a new offer.
"Washington offered me as a linebacker," Alfieri said. "They didn't specify if it was inside or outside. They said they look for players with long limbs who are athletic and not afraid to hit people. Coach (Steve) Sarkisian said I fit the mold for them."
One thing stood out to Alfieri during his time on campus.
"I didn't realize they had so much to offer academically," he said. "They have one of the best medical programs int he country and they graduate their players. I love the new renovations they are doing up there too."
Oregon State has also offered but numerous other programs are showing interest. Alabama, Cal, ASU and Stanford are showing the most interest at this time.
"Stanford came by twice recently. Cal, Oregon State and ASU all stopped at the school too. I'm hoping to get more from Stanford, UCLA and Oregon. I don't have any favorites right now, I'm just taking things slow."
This upcoming season Jesuit will alter their offense which will have Alfieri moving all around.
"I'm just trying to get bigger, stronger and faster like everyone else. I know with us going to more of a spread I'll get moved around to wide receiver, tight end and kind of like an H-back."
Alfieri is one of the top, if not the top players in the state of Oregon.
