The top player from the state of Oregon has attracted college buzz from around the country. Recently the 6-foot-3, 220-pound prep, Joey Alfieri, added an offer from Stanford, one of his early top choices.
Alfieri thinks Cal may be close to offering.
Are the Cardinal his top team now that an offer is on the table?
"They offered on Friday," Alfieri said. "My coach told me I had a phone call but he didn't tell me who it was. I got on and it was the Stanford coaches. They are pretty high on my list. I love the academics and the football."
Up next for the 247Composite four-star is a trip to Stanford on June 18.
Alfieri said he is being recruited hardest by Oregon State and Washington followed by Stanford. Cal is also increasing interest and could be his next potential offer.
There remains one Pac-12 offer that continues to elude him thus far.
"Being as I'm from Oregon that would be a big offer for me," he said. "I've gotten mail and stuff from them but I haven't had a lot of contact with them. They offered my teammate (Henry) Mondeaux so hopefully they give me a look too."
Alfieri is finishing track as he doesn't have Spring football. This season he will be all over the field on both sides of the ball. His goal is to understand all positions on offense and improve his speed and hip flexibility.
With regards to a decision, Alfieri hopes to make a commitment prior to the start of his senior season.
