ORLANDO, Fla. – Uncommitted five-star athlete John “JuJu” Smith created the most buzz in the opening hours of the Under Armour All-America Game week when he arrived donning a USC t-shirt.
John "JuJu" Smith sports a USC t-shirt on Saturday.
However, the No. 13 player in the country according to the 247Sports Composite, quickly downplayed his first day attire.
When asked about it, Smith, who’s from Long Beach, Calif. said he’s “showing the West Coast love.”
But make no mistake about it, the Trojans are in the hunt for Smith and are trending (67 percent) on the 247Sports Crystal Ball to land him on Signing Day when he plans to announce his college choice.
Smith recently met with new USC head coach Steve Sarkisian when he took an unofficial visit on Dec. 13 and will return to campus Jan. 17 for his fifth and final official visit.
"I actually talked to him on a one-on-one basis," Smith told 247Sports Ryan Bartow. "Me and my parents took a visit there and talked to the new coaching staff, especially Coach Sark. He's a good head coach. I like him. He said that I'll be coming in and could be starting. They're in need of wide receivers and DB's."
Smith has already taken official visits to Alabama, Notre Dame, Oregon and Ohio State. Those four schools along with USC and UCLA are still in the running for him.
Smith is ranked the No. 2 athlete and No. 2 recruit in the state of California according to the 247Sports Composite for the 2014 recruiting class.
