New Tennessee head coach Butch Jones swiped a commitment from a fellow new Southeastern Conference head coach as the Vols snagged athlete Lemond Johnson (Cooper City, Fla.), who previously was committed to Auburn.
Johnson is the first verbal commitment for Jones at UT.
Ryan Callahan of GoVols247 reported the news earlier Sunday.
Johnson made an official visit to Tennessee this past weekend.
Johnson will enroll early and will go through spring practice with the Vols.
Rated an 87 (three stars) by 247Sports, Johnson is the nation’s No. 45 safety prospect and the No. 95 overall prospect in Florida according to 247Sports.
Johnson is commitment No. 17 for Tennessee, which is now No. 29 in the 247Sports Team Rankings for 2013
