Kansas vs. Iowa State breakdown

Kansas travels to Iowa State for a pivotal Big 12 match up. Both teams have experience, but Kansas has a roster of more highly ranked prospects.

Here is a statistical and ranking breakdown for both rosters:

23-4 and in first place in the Big 12

Ben McLemore 16.2 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 1.9 apg, 1.2 spg, 0.8 bpg, 2.0 tpg in 32.1 mpg

The redshirt freshman was ranked No. 39 in the 2011 RSCI. McLemore has drastically outplayed his ranking and is Kansas’ top talent.

Jeff Withey 13.6 ppg, 8.5 rpg, 0.8 apg, 0.9 spg, 4.0 bpg, 1.8 tpg in 30.5 mpg

The redshirt senior was ranked No. 29 in the 2008 RSCI. It didn’t happen right off the bat, but Withey has eventually played up to his ranking and is one of the nation’s top shot blockers.

Travis Releford 12.2 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 2.6 apg, 1.2 spg, 0.3 bpg, 1.6 tpg in 33.4 mpg

The redshirt senior was ranked No. 53 in the 2008 RSCI. It has been a long road for Releford, but during his freshman year his game has approached the level of his ranking.

Elijah Johnson 9.1 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 4.4 apg, 0.9 spg, 0.1 bpg, 3.0 tpg in 30.8 mpg

The senior was ranked No. 24 in the 2009 RSCI. A combo guard who has struggled to become comfortable in one of the guard positions, Johnson hasn’t played up to his five-star ranking.

Kevin Young 7.6 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 1.0 apg, 1.2 spg, 0.4 bpg, 1.1 tpg in 22.5 mpg

The senior and Loyola Marymount transfer was not ranked in the top 161 of the 2008 RSCI. Young has surprisingly worked his way into a pivotal role for Kansas.

The sophomore was ranked No. 81 in the 2011 RSCI. Tharpe has had his moments, but up to this point the four-star prospect has played more like a three-star prospect.

Perry Ellis 4.6 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 0.5 apg, 0.3 spg, 0.3 bpg, 0.5 tpg in 13.1 mpg

The freshman was ranked No. 32 in the 2012 RSCI.
