Johnson makes Marquette top 10

Johnson is a lanky scorer and defender

Behind the commitment of four-star shooting guard Jajuan Johnson, Marquette surges to No. 7 in the 247Sports national team recruiting rankings.

Marquette made a late recruiting surge to take over the recruitment of Johnson against Alabama and Miami.

Marquette was the last school Johnson, 6-4, 185-pounds out of Memphis (Tenn.) Southwind visited. He was impressed by the success of former guards like him under head coach Buzz Williams. A tough minded defender and playmaker, Johnson fits the mold of former Marquette guards such as Jerel McNeal.

Johnson is the No. 46 ranked prospect by 247Sports and No. 52 ranked prospect in the 247Composite.

He joins four-star prospects Deonte Burton and Duane Wilson, junior college standout big man Jameel McKay and point guard John Dawson in the Marquette recruiting class.

The class slides in at No. 7 in the national rankings ahead of Baylor, who received a commitment yesterday from four-star big man Dominic Woodson.
