Few players across the country had a bigger weekend than 2014 shooting guard Matthew Fisher-Davis (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Christian). The Charlotte native exploded for 31 points on Thursday night at the Peach State Showcase in Aiken, S.C. in front of several college coaches. The following day started a whirlwind recruiting weekend that saw him picking up offers from Georgia, Vanderbilt, Mississippi and Charlotte along with interest from Miami.
Fisher-Davis picked up new offers from Charlotte, Vanderbilt, Georgia and Mississippi.
Fisher-Davis talked about how he has handled the last few days as his phone has been ringing off the hook.
"It has been crazy," he said. "I always thought I was under recruited, not getting invited to Dave Telep's Carolina Challenge caused me to work harder and try to get my name out there more."
The 6-foot-4 prospect held offers from Radford, Western Carolina and Gardner-Webb before the weekend. Now all that has changed with other schools such as North Carolina-Wilmington, Ohio, Citadel joining the party. It may be a little late though as Fisher-Davis talked about his four biggest offers.
Georgia - "They were just telling me they were very interested and want to see me in Orlando. I spoke with all of their coaches and we are building a relationship right now."
Vanderbilt - "I spoke with their head coach and one of the assistants. They were saying how I remind them of John Jenkins at my age. I like them because the head coach there is one of the best at coming up with offense's for shooters which is my speciality."
Mississippi - "I haven't spoken with them directly, they just spoke with my dad. I don't know anything about them right now.
Charlotte - "They are talking about getting me on campus to visit, they are really impressed with my play and they are coming to see me in Orlando. I am just familiar with them because they are close by but I don't really know what they run or stuff like that."
With so much attention so quickly for Fisher-Davis, he talked about slowing things down and what he is looking for as these schools talk to him.
"I am pretty open right now and going to try and stay focused through Orlando," he said. When I get home we will try to narrow things down and look at things like academics, the style of system the team uses, how far away it is and what type of basketball atmosphere the school has."
