Hopkins (Minn.) High receiver Andre McDonald’s recruitment has come full circle, confirming with 247Sports his commitment to Minnesota on Thursday night.
The 6-foot-3, 195-pound McDonald originally gave his pledge to the Gophers last year on Super Bowl Sunday before reopening the process. That led him to committing to Vanderbilt in September, before reopening again in January.
One of the most prolific receivers in state history, McDonald gives Minnesota its 29th commit in the class of 2012, with 10 coming from in-state. As a senior he caught 60 passes for 1,253 yards and 17 touchdowns. His 39 career touchdown receptions ranks fourth all-time in state history, and his 2,699 yards receiving slots him fifth all-time.
Ranked as the nation's No. 62 receiver overall, ther programs to offer McDonald includes Illinois, Iowa, Michigan State and Ohio State.
