Nkemdiche decommits from Clemson

Robert Nkemdiche , the nation’s No. 1 prospect, has decommitted from Clemson, Grayson (Ga.) coach Mickey Conn said Thursday.

Robert Nkemdiche is scheduled to visit Ole Miss again this weekend.

Nkemdiche actually withdrew his pledge last Sunday.

“It was a family decision he made with his mom and dad,” Conn said.

Speculation has run rampant that Nkemdiche has been heading toward flipping his commitment to Ole Miss, where his brother, Denzel, has played well as a starting redshirt freshman linebacker.

Ole Miss coaches are due in to watch Grayson’s game Friday night, and Nkemdiche is slated to return to Ole Miss to watch the Rebels’ game Saturday.

Conn said he does not know if Nkemdiche plans to commit to Ole Miss in the near future.

“I don’t know where things stand for him,” Conn said. “I wish I could enter the mind of an 18-year-old. Those are questions he’d have to answer.”

Nkemdiche carries a 102 rating from 247Sports as a five-star prospect. He visited Georgia for last weekend’s game against Ole Miss.

He committed to Clemson while visiting during its June summer camp.
