City of Palms preview

247Sports will cover the prestigious City of Palms Classic Wednesday through Friday. A couple No. 1 ranked prospects plus other top prospects will be in action.

Malik Newman is a scoring machine.

Two Number Ones

The best in 2013- Andrew Wiggins- and the best in 2015- Malik Newman- will both hit the court here in Fort Myers. Wiggins has been good but not great here lately. The pressures of the recruiting front appear to be weighing on him somewhat. He will try to regain his dominant form in Florida.

Malik Newman is a scoring machine who can play either guard positions. He broke Monta Ellis' freshman scoring record last year in route to a state championship. He will lead his Jackson (Miss.) Callaway squad against the powerful American Fork (Utah) Lone Peak squad.

Pac-12 Power

Five-star prospect and Arizona recruit Rondae Jefferson will lead Chester (Pa.) High School at the COP. The do everything forward is ranked No. 19 by 247Sports and No. 14 in the 247Composite.

High flying Jordan Bell, who has a No. 64 247Sports ranking but only a No. 124 247Composite ranking, and scorer Roshon Prince (#123 247Sports/ #134 247Composite ranking) lead Long Beach (Calif.) Poly. Bell is headed to Oregon while Prince will attend USC.

Battle in the Paint

Two of the largest players in their respective class will clash in the paint against each other. 6-11, 270-pound Jahlil Okafor mans the middle for Chicago Whitney Young, and is the No. 8 ranked prospect in 2014 by 247Sports and has a No. 3 247Composite ranking. He will clash against Montverde (Fla.) Academy center Dakari Johnson. At 6-10, 250-pounds, Johnson is the No. 13 ranked senior by 247Sports and has a No. 7 247Composite ranking.

BYU in the House

Lone Peak High School is lead by three BYU commitments. Big man Eric Mika is ranked No. 43 by 247Sports and has a 247Composite ranking of No. 62. Nick Emery, ranked No. 125 by 247Sports and No. 83 in the 247Composite, is a long range marksman with a fiery competitive streak. And junior T.J. Haws has as much savvy as you will find in a combo guard. He is the No. 49 ranked prospect in 2014 by 247Sports and has a 247Composite ranking of No. 68.
