Notre Dame Eyes Another Top10 Class

Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly has four full recruiting classes in the books with three finishing in the Top10 nationally according to the 247Sports recruiting rankings.

Cali QB and Irish commit Blake Barnett was one of the top signal-callers on Notre Dame's board.

When the ink is dry next February in the 2015 class, if things finish the way they start, Kelly and his staff will be bringing in another Top10 haul.

Notre Dame currently has three top-rated commits scoring a ranking average that is currently No. 1 in the nation. The Irish have landed a pair of U.S. Army All-American offensive linemen in offensive tackle Jerry Tillery and the nation’s top center in Tristen Hoge, along with one of its top quarterbacks on the board in Blake Barnett.

Expect a slew of 2015 offers to go out from the Irish in the near future, but the recruiting board is already beginning to take shape in South Bend.

Notre Dame would like to land one more offensive lineman in 2015 with prospects like five-star Martez Ivey and four-stars Jake Fruhmorgen, Matthew Burrell, Chuma Edoga, Zach Okun, Reno Rosene and Zach Robertson holding an early offer.

The Irish are in the mix for many of the nation’s top running backs in five-stars Damien Harris and Soso Jamabo, LSU commit Nick Brossette, Jacques Patrick and Jordan Cronkrite.

Major receiver targets include five-star Tyron Johnson, Cordell Broadus and Calvin Ridley.

There might not be a player higher on Notre Dame’s board than five-star cornerback Minkah Fitzpatrick. Fellow five-star corners Iman Marshall and Kendall Sheffield are also major, major targets for the Irish coaching staff. Top50 prospect Marvell Tell is a name to know at safety.

Notre Dame is in strong early position for the nation’s top outside linebacker in Justin Hilliard from Cincinnati (Ohio) St. Xavier. Two other five-stars in Malik Jefferson and Jeffery Holland are two more coveted names at the linebacker position, and in-state linebackers Josh Barajas and Asmar Bilal are two others ND is high on.

The Irish are looking at several defensive linemen including five-star Jashon Cornell, another they’re in strong early position for, along with the likes of Keisean Lucier-South, five-star CeCe Jefferson, five-star defensive tackle Jacob Daniel, James Lockhart, five-star Shy Tuttle, five-star Tim Settle, T.D. Moton, five-star Albert Huggins five-star Trent Thompson, and Elijah Taylor.

Notre Dame will host a junior day on March 1 where they look to have several top targets on campus, as they continue to evaluate 2015 names and send out more offers.
