Golson pulls trigger for Rebels

After spending over a year and a half committed to Florida State, 4-star prospect Austin Golson has signed with the Ole Miss Rebels.

The 6-6, 285-pound offensive tackle from Prattville, Ala., spent two of the last three weekends in Oxford, Mississippi taking his official and unofficial visit to Ole Miss.

While still committed to Florida State, Ole Miss commits Ryan Buchanan and Laquon Treadwell were doing all they could to recruit Golson to Ole Miss.

After his official visit to Ole Miss on January 18, it appeared that the Rebels may be his top choice. Although Golson was good about not revealing much to the media, his return trip to Oxford for an unofficial on February 1 had all signs indicating the Rebels would eventually land the big lineman.

Golson becomes a member of what will go down as the biggest signing class in Ole Miss history.

Even as a Florida State commit, Golson still received plenty of attention during his high school career, racking up offers from Alabama, Clemson, Mississippi State, Southern California, Tennessee and many more.

After an impressive senior season at Prattville, Golson was selected to participate in the Mississippi-Alabama All-Star Classic as well as the US Army All-American Bowl.

Golson to official visits to North Carolina, Alabama, Ole Miss and Florida State.

Austin Golson is the No. 6 ranked player in the state of Alabama according to 247Composite for the Class of 2013. He is also the No. 8 ranked offensive tackle in the entire nation for the Class of 2013.
