BOWLING GREEN – A record 180 kids, ages kindergarten through sixth grade, turned out for the first University of Kentucky satellite camp of the summer, held Monday morning at Bowling Green High School, and CatsPause.com takes you inside the fun in this exclusive Photo Gallery.
The campers, including five from Illinois, were drilled in fundamentals during the three-hour session. Also included were autograph sessions with coach John Calipari and the assistant coaches, including Orlando Antigua (left) and a surprise treat near the end of the camp. That's when Calipari emerged carrying the 2011 NCAA East Region championship trophy. He then posed with groups of campers for another round of photos.
The tour will include 10 sessions in seven cities, having started Monday in Bowling Green and Bardstown. Additional stops include Newport (Newport Central) and Independence (Twenhofel Middle School) on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the tour goes to London (North Laurel HS) and Danville (Danville HS). Next up are a pair of sessions at Louisville Christian Academy on Thursday with the final camp June 25 at Pikeville and Hazard.
