Penn State NFTC Recruiting Notes

STATE COLLEGE, Pa.-There was plenty of recruiting buzz at the State College Nike Football Training Camp on Saturday at Penn State.

Eugene Lewis

Four-star receiver Eugene Lewis has a top three of Penn State, South Carolina and Virginia Tech. He is a member of The247.

-Four-star athlete Deontay McManus (Baltimore, Md./Dunbar) continues to favor West Virginia, followed by Oklahoma State, and continues to want to be recruited as a wide receiver. McManus visited Morgantown unofficially with several teammates prior to heading to State College to compete.

-Top247 linebacker Abner Logan (Brookline, Mass./Dexter), one of the stars of the camp, recently picked up his first FBS offer, from Florida International. We feel this will be the first of many for the 6-foot-1, 220-pounder. Notre Dame, Penn State, Nebraska and Boston College all are showing interest. FCS program UMass offered previously.

-Wide receiver Eugene Lewis (Plymouth, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) has more than 20 verbal offers with three schools standing out- Penn State, Virginia Tech and South Carolina. Lewis plans to visit Maryland soon unofficially.

-Four-star linebacker Kaiwan Lewis (Hammonton, N.J./St. Josephs) said that Florida is his leader ahead of a host of other programs at the moment. The 6-foot-1, 228-pounder recently had a great conversation with Gators head coach Will Muschamp and members of his staff. Purdue is the most recent school to offer Lewis.

-Safety Demetrious Cox (Jeanette, Pa.) was one of the most impressive prospects at the event at first glance. He holds more than 15 verbal offers, including Penn State, Pittsburgh, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Kansas State and Kansas, among others. Cox says no favorite, but we hear the Nittany Lions and Panthers may have the inside track.

-Two-way lineman Tyrique Jarrett (Pittsburgh, Pa./Alderdice) holds one scholarship offer- from Pittsburgh, but is getting interest from Penn State, Connecticut, Northwestern and Boston College. The Panthers, Nittany Lions, Eagles and Wildcats all sent coaches by his school last week to check up on him.

-Tight end Jack Schwaba (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) holds verbal offers from Rutgers, Syracuse and Toledo along with interest from Northwestern, Wisconsin, Michigan State and Boston College. The Wildcats is likely to offer in the near future.

-Athlete Albert Reid (Washington, D.C./Friendship Collegiate) holds an offer from Stanford to play running back, the position he worked out at on Saturday. Duke and Vanderbilt have offered as an athlete with safety in mind. Boston College and Northwestern could be the next two programs to offer.

-Wide receiver Marcus McGill (Rochester, N.Y./Gates-Chili) still holds one offer, from Buffalo. Akron is close pending an in-person evaluation. Syracuse and Connecticut also are showing interest.

-Running back Joe Riddle (Frederick, Md./Linganore) holds an early offer from Cincinnati and is getting interest from Maryland, Georgia Tech, West Virginia, Connecticut, Michigan State, Kansas State and Virginia, among others. Riddle says he feels like the Terps could be the next to offer.

-Wide receiver Dayne Hammond (Youngstown, Ohio/Boardman) holds offers from Ball State, Toledo, Bowling Green and Ohio U. The 6-foot-5, 190-pounder is receiving interest from Wisconsin, Duke and Ohio State. He also has a Division II scholarship offer in the sport of basketball. He won’t head to summer camps in June because of a mission trip to Uganda.

-Offensive lineman Jake Witucki (Natrona Heights, Pa./Highlands) holds an offer from Kent and is getting interest from Akron, Ohio U. and Buffalo, among others. Witucki attended the Zips’ spring game.

-Defensive end Silas Ademola (Bladensburg, Md.) is getting interest from Navy, Duke, Temple and North Carolina State.

Class of 2013

-Wide receiver Robert Foster (Monaca, Pa./Central Valley) could be one of the top prospects in the country for the next cycle. The 6-foot-3, 170-pounder already holds a verbal offer from Pittsburgh and is getting interest from Penn State, Ohio State and others.

-Tight end Adam Breneman (Camp Hill, Pa./Cedar Cliff) is a 6-foot-5, 218-pounder who already holds verbal offers from Boston College and Temple. Florida, North Carolina and Rutgers also are showing interest. Breneman could be one of the better prospects on the East Coast for the next recruiting cycle.

-Safety Tyrone Thompson (Vorhees, N.J./Eastern) is getting early interest from Florida, Nebraska, Rutgers, Penn State and TCU, among others.

-Wide receiver Noel Thomas (New Canaan, Conn./St. Luke’s) displayed promise at the event and listed Penn State, Boston College and Connecticut as three schools he is interested in early.

-Running back Derrick Green (Richmond, Va./Hermitage) says his childhood favorites were Ohio State and Alabama. The Buckeyes signed four-star linebacker Curtis Grant out of the school in the 2011 cycle. Green should have his share of offers in the near future.
