Goff becomes No. 1 for Cal

Jared Goff

Cal has secured their first quarterback commitment in the class of 2013. The Bears added 6-foot-4, 185-pound gun-slinging Jared Goff from Greenbrae (Calif.) Marin Catholic.

On Friday Goff headed to Cal for a visit with a plan in mind.

"Originally I thought I'd wait to commit but my family and I talked on Thursday night and decided I would commit while I was there," Goff said. "I knew in my mind there wouldn't be anyone that could top Cal."

The three-star quarterback said he considered waiting but felt his early commitment would help him build the class of 2013 for the Bears.

"I could have waited and gotten more offers," he said. "But this gives me the chance to recruit at camps and combines and be the leader for this class. Cal just had to much to offer and I'm just so proud to be a part of the family."

Goff is the first Cal commitment for the class of 2013.
