Recruits part of record crowd

Jordan Payton

Payton said he had the experience of a lifetime on Saturday night at the Big House.

Several top prospects were inside the Big House on Saturday for Michigan's 35-31 victory over ND. Updates include Zach Banner, Jordan Payton, Steven Elmer & Taco Charlton.

    • Thanks Steve.

What a game! Like the fans in the stands, as the recruits came off the field, there wasn't a single recruit that wasn't animated.

It sounds that way. I love how Cam Burrows said his ears popped. I'm jealous of the 114,000-plus that was inside. I've been to the Big House a couple times. Awesome place.

I loved how no one left after the game. The Big House was rocking!

    • Wiltfong has done a good job hyping these weekends in Ann Arbor and Happy Valley. I hope the game in Tallahassee is properly represented on this site.

I think Wiltfong used up all the hyperbole already though on the EPIC weekend at PSU. peace

I love playing the Blue Bloods. A home and home would be amazing.

You might have to give us a couple years.. Otherwise it would be worse than the PSU/Bama home and home lol

But I've always wanted a good home and home - my choices were LSU or Texas. Just seems like something we won't see too much of anymore with the conference expansions and Big Ten playing 9 conference games grumble

I wasn't able to sleep last night, and I still don't have a voice, but it was worth it (so was the price of admission).

It really was something special. I've never heard the Big House that loud, and I've never seen 60k fans stay put for a whole hour after the game. I honestly believe the "night game" elements of the game had to do with the atmosphere as much the tsunami that most of us sat through in the previous week.

Someone posted in our thread that his boss faintly heard the crowd in a town more than 17 miles away. This may sound far-fetched, but the stadium's bowl shape causes sound to travel upwards (and not remain in the stadium). As they continue to build up, more sound will be held in the stadium.

Future night games might compare, but I don't think Michigan Stadium will have an atmosphere like last night until the stadium expands to 125,000+ in a few years.

Going to be weird to see Yost's dream finally made a reality.

      Lol not that much!

Yost envisioned the day that Michigan Stadium would hold up to 150k, but since he didn't have the money to build the stadium that big in his day, he had the supports made to allow it to expand to that much.

Yost will always be my favorite Michigan head coach, he is the reason for us being so great in our history.

Structurally, we could do it because the stadium is dug so far into the ground. We'd have to move Crisler, re-route Stadium Blvrd and Main Street, and remodel the golf course, buy up the houses and businesses across the street and buy land from Pioneer High School. That's probably at least 75 years away (assuming college football is still this big).

Not happening in our or our kids or our kids kids lifetime. The population base + fan interest + infrastructure + cost + other things I am not thinking about = not happening.

Yeah I wouldn't play us next year as our entire D will be back but my top 2 teams I want a home and home with are you guys (Michigan) and USCw... USC and LSU have been dying to play each other since 03'.

      Yes, he was.

And it looks like he is a strong lean to UM now.

Yeah I think he'll commit to UM but you never know I guess. Congrats on the insane victory by the way, I couldn't believe it.

Yeah if he makes it out to Tenn before he makes a commitment, early october I believe, then who knows.

But I think the game and atmosphere last night is what did it.

      But thanks!
