Detroit (Mich.) Frederick Douglass standout Demetrius Stinson was one of the most productive players in the Motown area as a junior, rushing for 1,462 yards and 22 touchdowns while registering 35 tackles and four interceptions.
Toledo recognized those abilities on Tuesday and offered 5-foot-10, 190-pound Stinson a scholarship.
The Rockets like Stinson in the backfield. Stinson likes the Toledo campus, having visited twice in the past.
“I like how their coaches make you feel welcome and it’s a family up there,” Stinson said. “It’s a pretty big campus there and I like how they’re organized as far as the academics and in the weight room and in practice.”
Other programs Stinson is talking with includes Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Cincinnati, Iowa, Michigan State, Missouri and Wisconsin.
Stinson plans to visit Toledo next week, along with Central Michigan.
