Stanford is the early leader for Van Dyke.
North California is once again home to some big time football players. The Sacramento area has produced several big-time recruits in the past recruiting cycles and there is another big time target at Elk Grove (Calif.) Consumnes Oaks.
Alex Van Dyke is a 6-foot-4, 205-pound prep with eight early offers and a bevy of interest.
Consumnes Oaks head coach Ryan Gomes provided the latest on his star player.
"Alex is a big time player and is also very gifted in the classroom," Gomes said. "His dad played in the league for several years so he's got the lineage. He's a three-sport star, his athleticism is off the charts. His route-running is sharp and he's just such a great player."
Gomes said his star player is attracting attention from LSU, Alabama, Florida and Michigan among others. However one program has his early attention.
"I know he really likes Stanford," he said. "He's really high on academics so I know that means a lot to him. He's going to visit USC and UCLA later this month. USC has been really coming around for him and I know Tee Martin said he loves Alex."
