Four-star offensive line prospect Toa Lobendahn receives his jersey for the 2014 U.S. Army All-American Bowl. 247Sports is the official online selection partner of the game, which will be played January 4 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, with live network television from NBC.
“Its a tremendous honor,” Lobendahn told 247Sports following a ceremony in the courtyard of his high school. “I always watched this game growing up and have been working for it all my life. Its an honor to play for the Army. It shows we support them.”
The USC commit is regarded as one of the nation’s top offensive line prospects by 247Sports. The 6-foot-4, 290-pounder bench presses 405 pounds, squats 480 pounds, power cleans 330 pounds and holds a 3.9 core GPA.
“He’s the best kid imaginable,” La Habra coach Frank Mazzotta said. “He’s a top-notch student, tough and a student of the game. He has passion for the game. This is a fantastic deal for high school football, our students, our school and its just great for football.”
The four-star recruit committed to the Trojans in June of 2012.
“I love the tradition of the school,” Lobendahn said. “Its one of the best schools in the nation and I want to live in southern California. They haven’t been the best but I want to help them get back to being the best.”
The No. 9 prospect in California in the 2014 class speaks regularly with Trojans coach Lane Kiffin and his staff.
“They want me to come in and compete for a job,” Lobendahn said. “They believe I’m a true Trojan.”
The lineman, who will likely play guard in college, plans to graduate early and enroll at USC in January. He was one of the top offensive line performers this past summer at The Opening in Beaverton, Ore., displaying advanced technique, footwork and body quickness during drills and competitions.
