LAKE BARRINGTON, Ill. – Hebron (Ky.) Conner Top100 quarterback Drew Barker arrived at the Elite 11 Regional in the Chicago suburbs on Friday, a week away from making his college decision.
Drew Barker visited each of his three finalists, Kentucky, South Carolina and Tennessee, during the spring.
The 6-foot-4, 210-pound Barker will announce his verbal commitment on May 10 at his school, choosing between Kentucky, South Carolina and Tennessee. Barker added that Notre Dame could be close to offering as well, and that would put the Irish in the final group.
“I haven’t 100 percent (decided),” Barker said after the camp. He was named one of the top six performers by the staff. “My family and I are still going through things. We’ll definitely know by Friday of next week where I’ll be 100 percent committed too.”
Barker is leaning one direction and talked about the school.
“Just the feel that I got when I was there,” Barker said. He visited each of his three finalists during the spring. “It just felt like it was my most comfortable environment I felt, and I can see myself there for the next four to five years. The whole aspect, it was the best fit for me academically, athletically and socially.”
Ranked by the 247Composite as the nation’s No. 7 pro-style quarterback and No. 87 prospect overall, Barker’s decision definitely isn’t going to be an easy one.
“It’s just going to be really hard saying no to somebody I’ve built a really good relationship with,” Barker said. “That will be the tough part.”
A U.S. Army All-American, Barker threw for 2,072 yards and 22 touchdowns as a junior, while adding another 1,455 yards rushing and 18 scores.
