Lancaster Commits To Northwestern

Plainfield (Ill.) East offensive lineman Tyler Lancaster camped at Northwestern on Friday and earned a scholarship offer.

The 6-foot-3, 260-pund Lancaster confirmed with 247Sports that he gave his verbal commitment on the spot.

“They’ve been on the top of my list all along for a while,” Lancaster said.

Lancaster was one of the standouts at this past Sunday’s Illinois Nike Football Training Camp, earning an invite to The Opening. He chose the Wildcats over offers from Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan.

“When I was there, I was able to drive around campus,” Lancaster said. “It was beautiful especially the look on the shore. I knew they were my number one because they’re an hour, hour-and-a-half away from home. Their academics are top notch. I knew this was the right school for me. That’s what put them on top and that’s why I decided to commit.”

Lancaster is the fifth commit for Northwestern in the class of 2013.
