Jemison Has Purdue On Top

Tyvel Jemison

Fort Wayne (Ind.) Bishop Luers safety Tyvel Jemison got the offer he wanted on Wednesday evening from Purdue.

Also holding a scholarship from Toledo, the 5-foot-10, 170-pound Jemison plans to commit to the Boilermakers this fall.

“I just have to get my grades up,” he said. “I did real good in summer school. I have to get my grades up and then I’m going to commit.”

As a junior, Jemison registered 67 tackles, eight tackles for loss and three forced fumbles in helping Bishop Luers win its third-straight state championship. He also has the ability to play cornerback, and he talked with Purdue assistant coach Don Landholm about the scholarship.

“Just their history,” Jemison said. “I like their coaching staff. I like their strength and conditioning training. I think they could get me to the league.”

Jemison has visited Purdue several times in the past and says he’ll get back for a game in September.
