ASHBURN, Va. – The Nike Football Training Camp held at the Washington Redskins Training Center on Sunday was loaded with blue-chip recruits.
The nation's No. 1 prospect Da'Shawn Hand had his affection for Virginia Tech on display on Sunday.
247Sports takes you inside some of the major recruiting storylines from the day.
Hand Is On-Hand
The nation’s top-prospect overall in defensive end Da’Shawn Hand arrived wearing a Virginia Tech hoodie. The Woodbridge (Va.) High standout did not compete and also continues to take the recruiting process very slow.
“Right now I’m just focused on my team and having fun with life and enjoying high school,” Hand said.
The 6-foot-5, 247-pound Hand currently has a top five of Alabama, Florida, Michigan, South Carolina and Virginia Tech, with the Hokies and Wolverines perceived to be the top two.
Hand said he didn’t have any future visits in mind, but Woodbridge assistant coach John Harris added later that Florida was a possibility this summer as that’s the one school in his top five he’s yet to see.
As far as official visits go, both Hand and Harris confirmed talk of possibly attending the Michigan-Notre Dame game in Ann Arbor, but they said nothing has been set in stone. Hand also said he hasn’t had much communication with recruiters as of late.
The nation's No. 2 OT Damian Prince aims to visit Alabama, Florida State and Ohio State this summer.
“I’m not really talking to anyone right now,” he said.
Brown Has Decision Timeframe
Chesapeake (Va.) Oscar Smith five-star defensive tackle Andrew Brown has plan to enroll early and told Wahoos247 insider Jamie Oakes he’ll have a college decision made by the end of summer.
The nation’s top-ranked player at his position and No. 4 prospect overall, Brown said his top schools include Virginia, Virginia Tech, Clemson, Florida, Florida State and North Carolina, and that Michigan and Ohio State are two other programs that could make a push before he announces.
Brown spoke especially high of Cavaliers head coach Mike London saying, “he’s the best.”

Top100 News & Notes
-Wahoos247 insider Jamie Oakes caught up with the 247Composite’s No. 3 weak-side defensive end in Jalyn Holmes, who checks in as 247Sports No. 45 prospect nationally. The 6-foot-5, 225-pound Norfolk (Va.) Lake Taylor standout is high on Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Maryland, North Carolina, USC, Virginia and Virginia Tech, however it seems like the Seminoles are the program standing out. Holmes keeps in daily contact with the Florida State staff and he also appreciates the opportunity the Seminoles are giving him to play tight end.
-North Carolina quarterback commit Caleb Henderson hit Top100 athlete Jamil Kamara for a touchdown and then quickly indicated to the Virginia Beach (Va.) Bishop Sullivan Catholic standout that the two could connect that way many more times in Chapel Hill.
After the camp, the 6-foot-2, 211-pound Kamara confirmed that the Tar Heels were in his top two along with Virginia.
Planning to announce during his senior season, several other schools remain in the mix including Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Wisconsin. Kamara added that he’d love to have an offer from LSU to consider.

-South Carolina is in a great spot for Havelock (N.C.) High standout Derrell Scott, but Florida State and Ohio State are also strongly in the mix to land the 247Composite’s No. 1 all-purpose back and No. 90 prospect overall.
The 5-foot-11, 180-pound Scott is very familiar with what South Carolina brings to the table. He talks often with the coaching staff, has two high school teammates headed to play for the Gamecocks and he has family in the area.
Moving forward, he’d like to visit Florida, Florida State and Ohio State during the summer, and he plans on taking official visits before making a final decision. Scott added that Notre Dame will likely get one of his officials.
