49ers Cheifs complete a trade for Alex Smith

  • CarterND said...

Granted. Harbaugh made him a better quarterback, that's why I said he maxed out his potential in 2011. Is Andy Reid going to have the same effect? Highly unlikely. You honestly think Smith is worthy of a second round pick + a mid round pick next year, I really don't know what to say other than I disagree entirely. Smith is a great dude though, wish him nothing but the best.

like i said 49ers got the better end of the deal IMO. but i think this trade will work out well for the chiefs. the chiefs really don't have that many missing pieces.

He is better Than QB in draft and free agency ....makes sense

Doubt he would be better than Geno in KC. At least given the chance to be a franchise QB. We know Alex Smith is not that. He's been in this league too long to finally have a half good year. Really thought Andy Reid would have liked to mold a new young QB than a used and confused Alex Smith.

maxed out his potential? roflmao so an appearance in the NFC championship game must not be good enough for the chiefs. roflmao omg you are an idiot. roflmao

Defense and Frank Gore is what got us the NFC birth. Smith couldn't do shit when the Giants stopped that. He's as good as he's ever gonna be and the Niners just raped the Chiefs.

Right, because his defense and special teams didn't lead him there. Must've been his amazing 17 touchdowns. I'm sure Kansas City has just as good of a defense and special teams for Smith to lead them to the AFC Championship, right?

apparently nobody in this thread pays attention to NFL football. a good half year? lol that alone speaks for how much you know about NFL.

you are right. no good qb has ever been beat by Manning and the Giants besides Smith. lol

  • Smith will be out of the league in 3 years. He doesn't have the supporting cast anymore to prop his jelly arm up now.

noone is claiming he is an elite qb. but Chiefs do not need an elite qb. they need a game manager with good tools around him. that is all. draft some WRs and get Joeckel and Chiefs will be in good hands. and you are right there has never been a good qb that has had help from defense and rb's ... ever.

New head coaches and coordinators that you can't count on two hands hardly....that's what

    Alex Smith's offensive coordinators

Norv Turner- super bowl winning OC, known as offensive genius

Mike McCarty- super bowl winning head Coach, Green Bay Packers

Mike Martz- super bowl winning OC, best show on turf

    All failed with him.

Exactly. It's easy to point the finger at Kyle Williams for that loss, but Smith did absolutely dick in that game besides the early TD to VD. 12-26. Good luck moving forward, Chiefs. Hope you like watching quarterbacks taking sacks.

and he had 1 year with each. if he had 3-4 years with one of them then this argument would be relevant.

It took Jim Harbaugh 1 year.

And he maximized Alex. If the chiefs goal was to finish 9-7 throught his career then congrats.

9ers got the better deal but KC made out like bandits as well. Smith is a legit QB. his main problem is confidence. it will come down to wither or not Reid can coach him up and keep his confidence high like Harbaugh did. people that hate on alex smith just plainly dont know football. he is a game manager and smart player. the only reason he had such a rough start to his career is having literally 0 stability with his position coach or head coaches for that matter. almost a new OC every other year. he had no stability mix in a bit of a confidence issue and he was set up to fail. he will be great for KC.

Smith is 19-5-1 in 2 years. 4/1 TD:INT ratio in consecutive years now that he has had the same OC. with good playoff experience. Smith is hands down better than any 2013 draft QB. Chiefs need to resign Bowe, draft Joeckel, and go after some good WRs. if they do that they will succeed in a weak division.

People that hate on alex smith just plainly dont know football

No man, people that hate on AS are sick of mediocrity. If you're a QB and lack confidence, you suck by definition. You are not alone tho. I know many people that know football who refused to give up the ghost on the guy. It's called denial. There's a reason Hairballs went after Manning, and why he was so set on inserting Kaep randomly when AS was healthy - even at the expense of continuity on offense

Small hands, mediocre arm, happy feet, and an inability to stretch the field.

So you're saying in 3-4 years with Andy Reid Alex Smith might be good? 11 years into his career he might finally be good. I'm just glad he's not my team's QB. He's only had 1 full season over 61% completion. Thats not that good.

  • Dang, second round pick for Alex Smith.

That's virtually another first round pick for the 49ers.

Considering we would have won the game had KW not fumbled, yeah I'd say the loss can be blamed on him.

  • I wonder will the 9ers target a traditional style qb, or a dual threat guy in the draft.

Me, I'd go the dual route, just in case Kaep goes down, the entire system wont change.

    CRgator1

  • 49'ers are set up beautifully right now. Trade there first round pick for Revis. Use their 2nd rounder on a receiver (Robert Woods maybe), then use the rest of their picks on back-up players for their front 7, QB, and O-line.

  • I would t pay the money Revision wants. Build entirely through the draft. That's how you stay successful these days.
