*** Brian Perroni joins 247Sports

  • 247Sports is pleased to announce that Brian Perroni has joined the company as a National Recruiting Analyst.

“Brian is a tireless worker, well-connected and has a total team attitude,” said 247Sports CEO Shannon Terry.”

“When the opportunity came available to add Brian to our roster of national recruiting analysts, we jumped at the chance,” said Terry. “This is a talent and experienced-based business and it takes both attributes to make an impact. Brian has both qualities in spades, and he will help us expand our reach nationally, while giving our readers a proven resource in a key region of the country.”

Perroni was previously a recruiting analyst with Rivals.com from 2005 to 2012, where he concentrated on the states of Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, Missouri and Kansas.

Based in Houston, Texas, he will continue to focus on the Midland states for 247Sports.

Brian’s experience and relationships go well beyond his time as a Midlands recruiting analyst for Rivals. He also had prior stints as a Texas high school reporter, team-recruiting reporter for the Rivals’ Texas A&M site, and was the state of Florida recruiting analyst in 2010 before moving back to Texas to serve in his most recent role.

“247Sports is committed to building a talented and experience-based recruiting network where college and recruiting fans can turn for reliable news and scouting updates,” said 247Sports National Recruiting Director J.C. Shurburtt.

“We already had a strong foundation of talent with veterans like Gerry Hamilton, Barton Simmons and Steve Wiltfong, but the recent additions of Keith Niebuhr, Jerry Meyer, Chris Nee and Brian Perroni give us expanded coverage and reach, while doing it with industry veterans that have proven credentials and have built decades of key relationships in their respective regions.”

Rivals should ask Penn State how they plugged the hole in the dam, 'cause it's turning into a "Who's Who" exodus.

  • Very excited here. The addition of Brian tops a big summer of new additions including Chris Nee (FSU, Recruiting), Keith Niebuhr (National, SEC Recruiting), Jerry Meyer (National Basketball Recruiting), Sonny Shipp (LSU), Shea Dixon (LSU), Thomas Goldkamp (Florida), InsideTheVille (Louisville), BuffScoop (Colorado), HoistTheColours (East Carolina), Chris Courtney (Oregon) and Wes Mitchell (South Carolina).

We believe in hiring and working with difference-makers and rising stars in our industry. Looking at this list, we've certainly accomplished that to this point.

  • When did Jerry Meyer come on board for basketball, because his rankings and evaluations were pretty solid back then on rivals. Of course it was easier back then with players like Dwight Howard and Lebron James.
