Rangers game it is. I'm going to pull for the Rangers too because I know Canadians want one of their teams to win. Would you give me a quick run down on what happened last game?

As I a Canadian, I don't want any of those teams to win. Leafs or bust for me.

Got real chippy. Brian Boyle (big guy on Rangers) has been messing around with Senators young great defensemen all series long Karlson.

Ottawa finally took exception, ruthlessly cheap shotted Boyle with a punch to the face, and a bunch once he was down. Huge scuffle went down, players from both teams got tossed. Brandon Dubinksy got tossed for no reason threw a fit, and a Gatorade cooler.

Carl Hagelin (Michigan man) also made a real cheap hit on the Sens captain Danny Alfreddson (hate Danny) and knocked his ass out for tonights game. Hagelin got three games, and Alfreddson probably has a concussion.

If Hagelin got 3 games, Neal and Asham are in trouble. Asham had a hit up high and then punched Schenn in the back of the head as he was lying on the ice. Neal targeted and charged at two guys with his arms up high. Shanahan sets a terribly low precedent with the Weber penalty and then an over the top penalty on Hagelin. What a joke.

clearly keeping the top players out of trouble. Weber's hit was straight up violent

David Adams. Go Jaguars, Rangers and Yankees!

Eh, I agree Weber deserved a suspension, but there is only so much damage you can do doing what he did. Skating full speed into people's heads, or cross checking in the throat is much more dangerous.

Yeh it was solid, but I hate the Bruins so much. Waiting for someone to destroy Lucic and Marchand.

It was. This STL SJ game is pretty entertaining.

  • For the true hockey fans:
I listened to Wilbon and Tony on PTI today. They both seemed to not like the physical nature of the playoffs this year. Didn't like all the fights or anything like that. The numbers are way up for the playoffs this year though. Would you like to see stiffer penalties and less physical nature or do you like the physical nature of the playoffs this year?

I love the physical nature of the playoffs. The penguins vs philly game was a bit extreme, but it just adds to the drama usually.

anyone that is a "casual fan" or just tuning in for the first time doesn't like it, nor do they understand it has been around since the game started. With that begin said, this year has taken it a little over the top IMO. It used to be someone would take a cheap shot at a star player and then the 2 enforcers for each team would fight it out and that was the end of it. now they have pretty much taken the enforcer out of the game (with a few exceptions) and you don't have anyone to police the games like they used to because almost everyone has to be a skill player. obviously not many enforcers had skill to go along with the toughness. Just my opinion from watching and playing my whole life, anyone else thoughts?

I would say that I'm a casual fan of hockey and I absolutely love the fierce physical nature this year. I think you really can get into the games and cheer for one or the other without having ties with them. The Pitt game yesterday may have pushed it a little too far but still love it. I love the emotion that you can see with the players. I understand not wanting to see cheap shots and all but NHL will have a little niche of people that miss the truely physical nature of the NFL and tune into the NHL. The playoffs for the NHL are some of the best. I think you want to see the emotion on the ice when you are a casual fan.

  • I'm a Philly guy and absolutely hate the Pens, so in a way I loved it and hated it. Typically the casual fan doesn't appreciate that I've noticed esp when I travel outside of Philly. It amazes me. But youre right most fans of the physical aspect of football love the contact and fighting in the NHL

I get that, of course. But it was nice to watch a game where I did not care who won but really enjoyed the play.

  • Hossa just got rocked on what looked like a charge. He had to be taken out on a stretcher. If Torres doesn't leave his feet that is an absolutely spectacular and legal hit, IMO.

    A2Wolverines

  • I feel bad for Hossa. I can't believe how rough the playoffs have been so far.

Dude the wings lead the league in going through the motions. They have no pop/drive/energy. Really miss Helms speed.

  • Well I'm happy, Asham got 5 games and Neal got a game for their antics on Sunday

  • Neal should have gotten 3-4 games for his hits

    Michmania

  • really thought that when Det won game 2 in Nash that this series would go to Det but it looks like its going to the Preds now - go figure ; how does Det lose that game when they outshot the Preds 41 -17 ?? One goal was given to them with nobody even in the net ...

I agree but with the way Shanny has been I'm surprised he gave him anything more than a fine
