Star, there is a 90 percent chance that Derrick Griffin qualifies for us. How do you like this scenario my friend? Mike Evans, JaQuay Williams, RSJ, and Derrick Griffin all on the field at the same time? That mixed in with some of the speedy slot guys coming in. That is going to be a nightmare for defenses.

Devastating. Must be nice for Sumlin to be able to sell a rabid fan base and 3 years of receiving from a heisman winner in a spread offense to WRs. Griffin is huge, I love looking at composite rankings for 'bigger' kids, I doubt ESPN even looks at film, oh this player is tall/heavy/fast for his position....move him up 100 spots. If I had to take one kid from your class it would be Golden, kid is a beast and would fit well in NDs 3-4.

Yep, I like Golden. I was completely wrong on Griffin though, he won't qualify. He isn't over rated though, and I think we will pick him up again after his JUCO route. I really like our DT's this class: Golden, Hardreck Walker, and Justin Manning. Three, four star guys coming in to replace a couple seniors. I do hope that DeMontre Moore decides to come back. I think we did quite well with our LB's in this class also.

It looks like all the receivers you take this year will have even more of a shot at playing time now that Thomas Johnson is leaving.

I think Ramsey sticks. He's practically guaranteed a starting spot next season and it sounds like he want's to leave town. Not sure Bama can offer a starting spot and Vandy is not really leaving town. Plus all our DB recruits seemed to have developed pretty good relationships over the year. I think all of them but Ramsey are EE's so we would have heard bad news/wavering already if he wasn't feel'n it.

I give Lane credit for recruiting the way he has while going through the turmiol of the last few seasons. Sanctions plus the jekyll and hyde seasons. Easy to bring in studs from our own back yard with all this going down but to still go to the midwest/eastcoast and pluck out top players is tough during times like these. I give Lane props for that even though I am not sold on him as a coach yet.

    first, i doubt ramsey flips.

second, i hope like hell he does. he's my fav db in this class.

but bama won't offer a starting spot to anyone. he'll have a chance to come in a get playing time as a frosh though. like yeldon or cooper or geno smith for a db. cooper starts, yeldon might as well be considered a starter, and geno got significant pt late in year.

we lose miliner at cb this year and lester at s. so there are spots open. but, like usc, there is a wealth of talent looking to be the guy that fills it. and, again like usc, he'll have to prove he's the best to be the man, but he'll get a fair shot.

but i think it's a moot point, i think he sticks to usc.

Yea, that is a really sad story. He has some issues and I really hope that he gets help. He told all of his teammates, before the season started, that God told him we would wear an all white uniform for the Bama game, and that we would win. He also told them that after the game he would take a journey. He is a really good kid, with tremendous athletic abilities. Hopefully he can get the help he needs and maybe come back, but first and foremost I hope he gets the help he needs. We are taking seven in this class, and one redshirted last season. Sumlin wants to have a rotation so that he can have fresh legs on the field. The kid that redshirted is Ed Pope, and he is a four star WR., 6'4 170. We will have some Height with our WR's, something like this:

    Ricky Seals Jones: 6'5
    Mike Evans: 6'5
    JaQuay Williams: 6'4
    Ed Pope: 6'4
    Derel Walker: 6'4
    Kyron Parker: 6'3
    Quincy A: 6'3
    Nate Askew: 6'2
Malcome Kennedy (game winning TD vs. Bama): 6'0

OL for UM, no question. Not bad DL either.

Michigan OL class is huge with the roster turnover. The Wolverines were able to address one of the biggest needs on the roster in this class.

Linebackers for ND, we also have the 2nd or 3rd best OL haul behind what I regretfully feel is Michigan and possibly just someone I'm ommiting.

As ND continues to evolve its roster, speed and athleticism at the LB position was one of the needs to be on par with the SEC schools. The Irish certainly did that in this class landing cats like Jaylon Smith (the most athletic LB in the nation) and Alex Anzalone.

D-Line really stands out, Secondary is pretty stout too, especially if we land Bell.

Really like what Ohio State did in the secondary with guys like Eli Woodard, Gareon Conley, Cam Burrows and Jayme Thompson. Add Vonn Bell and that's called stacked.

Easy to love what they've done across the d-line the last two years recruiting.

Thanks for your input Steve, what are your thoughts on A&M's class?

Balanced class when you have 34 kids.

Gotta love WR Ricky Seals-Jones, Gonzalez, Kyrion Parker and JaQuay Williams, and those are guys that compliment each other well.

The DL class is strong to with Justin Manning, Golden and Hardreck Walker.

A&M also did work in the secondary and have six LBs in the fold.

It's impossible not to love what's happening at A&M. You have Manziel there, a bunch of talent coming in, great head coach, in the best league in the country.

Thank you sir. One of our underrated recruits that I've heard could be a breakout player is Ed Williams. What do you think about this kid?

In talking to my boy Sonny Shipp who covers LSU and the state of Louisiana for us, sounds like Williams is a good-looking player on the hoof, tackles with an attitude and is strong against the run. Will need to become a more polished player on the next level but has the physical tools and athletic ability to be a solid contributor at A&M.

When I've seen Ed Williams play a couple of times this year the first time early in the year I left thinking "man we have this kind underrated".

Saw him again middle of the year and I was not nearly as impressed and left disappointed.

When he is going 110% he is explosive, quick to the ball, and a violent hitter. The thing you don't like to see with a kid as big as he is and as physical as he is, though, is someone who tries to avoid blockers and runs around them and takes himself out of plays when he should be shedding the blocks.

He has the speed to be a guy who makes plays outside the tackle box and he fills the hole with a lot of attitude.

I think there is a lot for A&M to work with, and he could be one of those guys that really excels quickly once he gets into a college program. But, he will need to work on shedding blocks, and being more disciplined. He has a problem with trying to guess too much on where the play is going rather than diagnosing it and getting to the ball. He makes some big plays like that but can also be a non-factor because he is out of position.

I like Ellis and think he has very good instincts at CB. He has to since he has average speed but above average quickness. Most guys with his size and speed have to take a lot of chances, and are more susceptible to getting burned, but Ellis doesn't because he plays with such good awareness and has those type of instincts.

I question whether he will be that every down CB in the SEC when he gets matched up with bigger and faster WR's. I think he is a guy you put at nickel and do a lot of things with. I hate when everyone mentions the next Tyrann Mathieu but I can see Ellis being very successful in that type of role where you do different things with him and cover up some areas he needs to improve on.

The big one remaining for 2013 is Kendell Beckwith and I wouldn't be surprised if Bama took a closer look at Tim Williams over the break.

For 2014, I see Bama having legit shots with Laurence Jones, Leonard Fournette, Cameron Robinson, Cameron Sims, Malachi Dupre, Kenny Young, Will Clapp, Jacory Washington and Garrald McDowell. Those guys are the cream of the crop in Louisiana for 2014 and Bama can be as big of a player as they want to be.

Out of that group, I would put Fournette, Robinson, Jones and SIms as guys they have the best shot with.
