They do it for you at the store if you take your iPhone with you. They have some sort of gadget there that they hook both phones up to. If you want to do it yourself, you manually have to enter in the contacts. That is what I did.
I have a Note, but it doesn't matter what iPhone generation or Android device it is. The gadget that they use is magical. Saw some girl upgrading from an iPhone 3GS to the Galaxy Note 2 get it done.
